Detox Juice & Avocado on toast
Oh my g*d something horrible happened yesterday! I went to the gym, workout for almost 45 minutes, resting for only a few minutes between series and I have to say that I was exhausted and that I've never felt so breathless after a workout. I was so proud of myself succeeding working out as much and as well. On my way home, I was walking slowly to catch up my breath, nearly arriving home - I live in the fourth flour without an elevator - each steps on the stairs was a terrible struggle that took me 10 minutes and once in front of my door, I opened it and you'll never guess what I saw ... OUPS! I forgot to tell you that it's been almost ten days, that a very good friend of mine is staying at home until he found a place of his own. So getting back to what I was talking about, I opened the door and I saw my friend watching a movie (so far everything is ok) but he had a big plate in front of him, with 4 big slices of bread with guess what? NU-TE-LLA on it!!! NU-TE-LLA, yes you heard it correctly! Nutella has been banned of my flat since 1973, not because of the huge polemic of the palm oil - there is enough bad things around us to avoid eating Nutella because of the palm oil - but because Nutella represents my strongest temptation of all time and as a friend it is almost impossible to comit such an action, in my flat and especially after the workout I've done! Therefore I asked him to leave the flat and to never come back, no ok I'm joking I killed him instead! No! I tried to avoid the jar as much as possible, playing hide and seek (without the seeking part) but I live in a 30 meters squared apartment so you cannot avoid anything and you know where everything is, conclusion: The Nutella jar was in my flat and I couldn't do anything to avoid it. A little voice in my head was telling me "A spoon won't kill you or make you gain weight, come on you can allow yourself a little treat" but my life is a treat and I'm actually working on sticking to a healthy diet, with workouts and self education to achieve goals, so eating a spoon of Nutella can kill everything - I'm so dramatic! So all of that is to say that I ate not one, not two, not three but four spoons of Nutella, and I'm obviously not talking about teaspoons. And you know what? Nutella is so freaking delicious and the little voice in my head was right, eating Nutella is a one of a kind pleasure that you need to allow yourself once in a while and yesterday was THE moment! So then I finally thanks my friend for bringing it home, what a horrible friend am I, right?
But obviously, the day after, when I woke up, I wasn't feeling so great about myself and decided to make a detox juice that could clean me and throw away all the sugar present in my body. So this morning I made a ginger, apple, fennel, cucumber, celery, mint leaves and lemon juice to detoxify and purify my whole body. I also ate my homemade guacamole on whole grains bread with a soft-boiled egg on top which gave me a great kick start for a better day full of healthy thoughts.
Recipe for 2 big glasses:
- 2 apple
- 10 grams of ginger
- 1 fennel
- 1 cucumber
- 4 branches of celery
- 10 mint leaves
- 2 lemons
- 6 ice cubes
My best guacamole recipe for 2 toasts:
- 2 slices of whole grains bread
- 1 Avocado, mashed
- 3 cherry tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 clove of garlic, chopped
- 1/2 shallot, chopped
- 1/2 lemon juice freshly squeezed
- Olive oil, salt and pepper
- 1 egg
- Grill the 2 slices of bread in the oven for 7 minutes or in a toaster
- On medium heat, bring the water to a boil, add the egg and let it cook for 6 minutes
- Meanwhile, put the avocado in a bowl, add the garlic, shallot, tomatoes, lemon juice and olive oil and mashed it to reach the consistency you prefer (I like it with big pieces)
- Get the toasts out of the oven and spread the guacamole on it
- Take the pan out of the heat and pour cold water on the egg. Remove the eggshell.
- Add the egg on your toast, cut a bit to let the egg yolk goes on the guacamole
- Add salt and pepper & bon appétit
Happy Friday & Have a good weekend everyone!
